Hajj and Health

Hajj is considered one of the toughest holy obligations in Islam. It is toughest because it requires a lot of physical energy along with mental presence. All the people going on Hajj are recommended to be in best of their health and be physically fit so that they are able to perform all the Hajj obligations with complete satisfaction. It is not just important to be in good health before going on Hajj but also to stay healthy during the entire pilgrimage. Most people get various kinds of infections and illnesses during Hajj, which affects their holy schedule in a very negative manner.

In order to help yourself stay healthy during Hajj, you need to know the following four things and follow them:

  • It is very important for you to get vaccinated for influenza virus. Influenza is a very contagious viral infection, which has three basic types; A, B and C. Every one of these types is very painful and contagious. If a person catches influenza during Hajj, the entire pilgrimage is ruined due to lethargy, migraine, body pain and flu. Moreover, it makes the pilgrims reduce their contact with the other pilgrims because it is contagious. This ruins the entire essence of Hajj. To avoid all these incidents to happen, you must get yourself vaccinated during Hajj.
  • Hajj requires people to perform all the functions of this holy pilgrimage during their entire day. This makes them get proper rest at the night time only, where they had to catch 5-6 hours’ sleep. Most of the times, people are not able to sleep and relax properly after such a tiring day. Lack of proper sleep will lead to another dull day. In order to avoid lack of sleep, every pilgrim should carry relaxing pills with them. They can take these pills whenever they feel that their bodies are unable to relax and they need to sleep early.
  • Physicians recommend that every pilgrim should carry a portable foot massager in their luggage for Hajj. This machine makes your feet relax in a few minutes, giving you the energy to go for another Hajj walk without wasting too much time.
  • Nutritional professionals suggest pilgrims to eat lighter and healthy food during their Hajj trip. People should avoid too much oil or fats in food, as it will make them lazy and may give rise to digestive problems that can cause trouble in their journey.
